Art Educator
Welcome!
A Little About Me
Hello! I believe that every student has the ability to be confident, autonomous artists, every day I am inspired by the talents of my learners!
In May 2021 I graduated with an Art Education degree from the Pennsylvania State University with a Magna Cum Laude distinction and 3.94 GPA. In August 2021 I started my first full-time position teaching PreK-5 art at Southside Elementary School in Huntingdon, PA. Currently, I teach K-2 art at the New Kensington-Arnold School District. These first 2 years of teaching have been a BIG learning experience and every day has reaffirmed in my love for teaching (even on days when paint mysteriously ends up everywhere..)
I completed my first student teaching placement at Altoona Area Junior High School (grades 7-8) and my second placement at Bellefonte/Benner Elementary (K-5). After graduating, I continued at the Bellefonte Area School District until the end of the school year with a few weeks of substitute teaching in grades K-12.
I formerly worked as a Peer Career Assistant through Penn State Career Services, reviewing resumes and cover letters and providing mock interviews for fellow students. I also taught at the Saturday Art School and Craft Center programs at Penn State, where I created my own beginning art curriculums for State College community members.
My curriculum focuses on the process rather than the end product. This way, mistakes are embraced and learners develop a growth mindset. Every learner is an artist and everyone is capable of creating!
